Hi, I’m Jordy!

About seven years ago, when I was fresh out of college and trying to navigate the real world, I launched a website alongside my travel Instagram. Like most people who enter this content space, I wanted to share all that I could about the trips I took, give advice or recommendations, and of course see my platform grow. However, after a few posts, life happened. I didn’t stay consistent and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. It was hard to keep it up and running so I let the domain expire, I stopped posting on Instagram and moved on. Until now.

Over the last few months, I have really honed my skills of planning and organizing, which is in large part to my fiancé and I’s upcoming wedding (2027)! Seeing how well I can navigate document after document, list after list, itinerary after itinerary - all of which I created, planned, tweaked, and shared - my family and friends suggested I share those skills on a wider platform.

As I was getting ready to re-launch Jordy’s Journal and give my former blog Instagram account a makeover, I did a lot of research on how I could make this new venture work. A couple things stood out: be consistent, be authentic, and find a niche. Well, I have no problem being authentic. And clearly finding my niche was easier than I thought it would be. It just comes down to being consistent, which is easier for me now that I am older, have an easier work schedule, and a larger audience I can reach. Not everything on my website is going to be 100% relatable to you, but if one topic can help just one person, then I did what I set out to do: be a resource.

As for other things that interest me, besides organizing and planning, I would have to say traveling is at the top of the list. My spiel might be similar to others in the travel content space, but I’m going to give a little backstory. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to explore. My first flight was to California at 11 months old and I have not stopped traveling since. Whether it’s a fall day trip to Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown, NY or a two-week international Mother-Daughter trip to England and Scotland, I love to wander. Anytime I’m in a new town, city or country, I (and whoever I’m traveling with) bop around, ask locals for their recommendations, and go off the tourist trail so we can soak up everything the place has to offer.

This thirst for knowledge started at a young age. Growing up, I loved to research the places we planned to travel to so we could make the most of our time there. Seriously, I was nine years old doing research on Hawaii’s North Shore Pipeline via the documentary ‘Step Into Liquid’. This natural curiosity and sense of adventure led me to a career in journalism. I currently work as a Segment Producer at MLB Network in the Features and Documentaries Department - where I get to work with incredible people each day while telling incredible stories. And before that, I was a weekend sports anchor for four years, working in Rochester, MN for the ABC affiliate then in Madison, WI for the CBS affiliate. As you can see, I am a very passionate, curious person, with a wide range of interests. I also happen to be extremely Type-A. I mean, there’s so much to see, do, and experience in life so why not make most of it? And why not take the skills I have to help others?

I hope Jordy’s Journal can be a relatable and reachable resource for you. So don’t hesitate connect with me and check out what I’ve been working on!
